Application & Career Writing

Your résumé shouldn't
read like a list.
It should read like you.

written for you, in your voice

Done-for-you writing for résumés, cover letters, and personal statements. Built the same way I build any story: find the actual narrative, cut what doesn't serve it, and say the rest with confidence. From a physician, TEDx speaker, and story strategist who has read thousands of application documents and knows exactly where the good ones fall apart.

Lauren Fine, MD, résumé, cover letter, and personal statement writer

"A resume tells facts.
A story tells why they matter."

Lauren Fine, MD · Story Strategist · TEDx Speaker

Important: due to my faculty role at NSU Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine, I cannot provide personal statement, essay, or application writing help for medical school (MD) admissions, as this would present a conflict of interest. I'm glad to help with résumés, cover letters, and personal statements for any other job, graduate program, fellowship, or professional school application.

Why not a template service

Working with someone
who knows your story
changes everything.

Most résumé services run your information through a formula. You get keyword-stuffed bullet points that could belong to anyone. When I write for you, I start with the actual story underneath the facts, then build a document that sounds unmistakably like you.

Template Service

Generic, could belong to anyone
Sounds unmistakably like you
One writer, high volume, low context
One conversation before any writing starts

Why it works

What that background
actually gets you

MD

Decades reading applications

Twenty years in academic medicine means twenty years of reading personal statements, letters, and applications, and knowing within a paragraph which ones actually say something. You get that same editorial eye on your own document.

Ed

She teaches storytelling for a living

As Assistant Dean of Clinical Skills Education, she trains people to communicate clearly under pressure, in writing and out loud. That's the same skill your résumé and cover letter need to do their job.

Dx

She's written her own pivot

Founder of ReasonDx, and the author of her own career reinvention story, told publicly, more than once. She knows firsthand what it takes to make a nonlinear path read as a strength, not an explanation.

Tx

She knows how to build the story

Her TEDx talk has reached a global audience. Turning a career, a gap, or a pivot into a story that lands, for a hiring manager, an admissions committee, or an interviewer, is a skill she uses and teaches every day.

What's offered

One offering,
tiered to your scope

Application Writing is a single, tiered offering that covers résumés, cover letters, and personal statements, alone or combined. Every engagement starts with a short conversation so the writing reflects your actual story, not a template. Pricing below starts from current rates; final scope and price are confirmed after that first conversation.

01

Résumé Refresh

Starting from $400

A full rewrite of your résumé: structure, bullet points, and framing, built around the actual impact of your work instead of generic duty statements. Includes one round of revisions after you review the draft.

Résumé only One revision round Fast turnaround

02

Résumé + Cover Letter

Starting from $650 · Most popular

Your résumé and a matching cover letter, written together so they tell one coherent story instead of repeating each other. Best for an active job search where you need both documents to work as a pair.

Most popular Résumé and cover letter Two revision rounds

03

Full Application Package

Starting from $1,000

Résumé, cover letter, and personal statement, written as one connected narrative for a job, graduate program, or fellowship application. For non-MD applications only, see the note above. The most thorough option, with a working session to surface the real story before any writing starts.

Résumé, cover letter, and statement Working session included Not for MD admissions

Personal statement writing on its own, without a résumé or cover letter, is also available; ask about it in your free session. As noted above, I cannot assist with MD admissions applications due to a conflict of interest with my faculty role.

How it works

Simple. No surprises.

01

Free Session

A real 25 to 55 minute conversation, not a sales call. You tell me what you're applying for and where you're stuck. I tell you honestly what package fits and what the finished document should do for you.

02

We Gather the Raw Material

You send your current résumé, background, and any draft material. For deeper packages, we do a working session to surface the story underneath the facts.

03

I Write the Draft

You receive a full draft, written in your voice, not a mad-lib template. Structure, framing, and language all built around what actually makes your background compelling.

04

We Revise Together

You review, mark what's off, and we refine it. Every package includes revision rounds, because the first draft is a starting point, not the finish line.

Is this for you

You might be in the right place if...

A note

This isn't for everyone.

This works best when you're ready to be honest about your background so the writing can be honest too. If you want a document that just checks boxes, a template service will be faster. If you want one that actually sounds like you and gets read twice, let's talk.

Common questions

What people ask
before they reach out

Can you help with my medical school application?

No. Due to my faculty role at NSU Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine, I cannot provide personal statement, essay, or application writing help for MD admissions, as this presents a direct conflict of interest. I'm glad to help with residency, fellowship, graduate school (non-MD), or job applications.

Do you work with people across the US and internationally?

Yes. All writing engagements are conducted virtually via video and email. I work with clients across the US and internationally. Location is not a barrier.

How long does the process take?

It depends on the package and your deadline. A Résumé Refresh typically turns around within a week of our working session. The Full Application Package takes longer, since it includes a working session and multiple documents. Tell me your deadline in the free session and I'll tell you honestly whether it's realistic.

What do you need from me to get started?

Your current résumé (even a rough one), the job posting or program description you're applying to, and any draft material you already have. For personal statements, I'll ask you questions in our working session rather than expect a finished draft from you.

Why work with you vs. a template résumé service?

Template services optimize for volume. You fill in a form, and a formula produces a document that sounds like a hundred other applicants. I write a smaller number of documents at a time, starting from an actual conversation about your background, so what comes out sounds like you, not a formula.

What does it cost?

Résumé Refresh starts from $400. Résumé + Cover Letter starts from $650. The Full Application Package (résumé, cover letter, and personal statement) starts from $1,000. Personal statement writing on its own is available too, ask in your free session. Final pricing depends on scope and is confirmed after our first conversation. The first session is always free.

What does the free first session cover?

A real conversation, free, up to 55 minutes. You tell me what you're applying for and where you're stuck. I ask questions, get a feel for your background, and tell you honestly which package fits and what the finished document should do for you. No obligation, no sales pitch.

How many revisions are included?

Résumé Refresh includes one revision round. Résumé + Cover Letter and the Full Application Package include two. If you need more after that, additional rounds can be added.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

Most sessions are conducted via video. In-person sessions are available by appointment in the Weston, Florida area for clients in South Florida who prefer that format.

Where I work

Based in Weston, Florida. Working with clients across the U.S. and internationally.

In South Florida, I serve clients across Broward and Miami-Dade counties: Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Boca Raton, Plantation, Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs, and Aventura. In-person sessions are available by appointment in Weston. Virtual coaching is available across the United States and internationally via video.

Ready to start

Let's write it right.

No pressure. Just a conversation.

The first session is free and there's no obligation. Tell me what you're applying for. I'll tell you honestly which package fits and what the finished document should do for you.

Reminder: not available for MD medical school admissions applications, due to a conflict of interest.
